David Wilhite

Dr. Wilhite is a native of Columbus, Georgia, and he has served on the pastoral staffs of two churches in Birmingham, Alabama.  After his living and studying in Scotland, he taught for two years at Seattle Pacific University.  At Truett, he teaches Introduction to Christian History and Christian Texts and Traditions 1.  His recently published monograph is entitled Tertullian the African:  An Anthropological Reading of Tertullian’s Context and Identities (De Gruyter, 2007), and he has just begun work co-authoring The Doctrine of the Church:  A Guide for the Perplexed with Matt R. Jenson (forthcoming with T&T Clark, 2009).  Outside of his academic work, he enjoys spending time with his family (including “Roma” the basset hound), being outdoors, and playing anything from the blues to bluegrass on his guitar autographed by Waylon Jennings.

 


Daniel Haynes

Mr. Haynes is a native of Dallas, Texas, and he has served on the pastoral staffs of two churches in Dallas and Waco, Texas respectively. After completing his M.Div. at Truett, he started working as an Academic Advisor and Adjunct Professor of Religion and Philosophy at Shorter College in Atlanta, Georgia. He also teaches Church History, Biblical Literature, and Practical Theology at Grand Canyon University. Mr. Haynes is currently residing and studying theology at the University of Nottingham, England, where he is working on a PhD. His dissertation is entitled: The Doctrine of Grace in St. Maximus Confessor: An Examination of his Eastern and Western Christian Theology. His publications include a forthcoming article in 2010 on Radical Orthodoxy and Theosis in the Heythrop Journal of Philosophy and Religion. In his free-time, he enjoys spending time with his wife Allison and his little niece Tristen and nephew Christian, watching films, and traveling about Europe.
